ASK OUR ENGINEERS
The CATALYST platform is here, and now’s your chance to learn more about the new platform from the men and women who created it.Ask Us a Question
Can you share any insight as to how you worked through the design of your rear skids?
Everything has been rebalanced and calibrated specifically for the CATALYST chassis. For trail and crossover models, the rear suspensions have been reconfigured to enhance track tension through travel, and the geometry has been updated to corner better. On the ALPHA ONE® Single Beam Rear Suspension, we increased travel and bottom-out protection by altering the geometry and motion ratios on the front and rear shocks. The shock valving and spring selection were also changed to upgrade our rear suspensions.
Are any parts of the CATALYST platform interchangeable with legacy platform components?
There are some parts in the rear suspensions that will service both. The handlebars and controls are the same on both CATALYST and legacy platform. Some miscellaneous hardware throughout the vehicle will also carry over, but every other part has been optimized and redesigned for the CATALYST platform.
How is one chassis design the best option for different riding styles? Should there not be 3 different chassis designs for the 3 different applications?
The CATALYST platform has been optimized for each of the three segments in a unique way that allows the core design to remain the same. We achieved this by placing shared components in different locations on the chassis and differentiating parts that were required to accommodate these designs. The core chassis design focuses on durability, which fits the cross-country racing segment, and weight sensitivity for the mountain segment. The front and rear suspensions, spindles, steering, drive system and running boards are completely optimized to provide performance, handling and vehicle balance for the differing demands of each segment.
What kind of updates have been made to the gauge?
Handwarmer and thumb warmer settings are displayed at all times. We’ve also made improvements to the mounting to offer a better fit and finish.
With the new ATACH system, are all four brackets needed for each bag?
The larger bag that has room for a shovel requires all four mounts. Smaller bags and the fuel caddy will only use two brackets to mount.
Why did you start with the 600-series engines in Catalyst?
The 600 C-TEC2 engine has been updated specifically for the new Model Year 2024 CATALYST sleds; it features a new crankshaft, stator ignition system and fuel management system. We have higher displacement engines in development that will make a major impact when paired with the CATALYST platform.
